About Des Perspectives
Des Perspectives is French in origin and translates loosely to “some perspectives”. The name implies multiple viewpoints, stepping back to see the big picture, and not being locked into a rigid way of doing things.
Des Perspectives reflects how I approach strategy and problem-solving: by stepping back, understanding problems from more than one angle, and deciding what comes next with the full picture in mind. Strong decisions come from seeing how the pieces connect — not reacting to a single data point or isolated tactic.
Who is Desiree Preston?
I was born and raised in Singapore and moved to Vancouver in 2011, expecting change but not realizing how much it would shape my career. I hold a degree in English Literature from the National University of Singapore and a degree in Psychology from the University of British Columbia — a combination that strongly influences how I think, communicate, and make decisions.
For over twelve years, I worked in project management consulting, delivering complex, Indigenous-focused projects across regulated, multi-stakeholder environments. My work often involved multi-million-dollar budgets and collaboration with federal government agencies as well as Chiefs and Councils, where trust, governance, and accountability were essential. That experience continues to shape how I approach digital strategy today: thoughtful, structured, and grounded in real-world constraints.
What’s my working style?
Working together is typically calm and straightforward. I come prepared, with data synthesized into clear, practical insights. I aim to simplify rather than overwhelm, and I’m action-oriented — gathering information, stepping away to assess it properly, and returning with clear recommendations. Clients are always part of the decision-making process, with enough context to feel confident about the direction we take.
I operate as a principal-led practice. Clients work directly with me throughout an engagement. When additional capacity or specialized expertise is needed, I bring in trusted collaborators while remaining fully accountable for direction and delivery.
Why digital marketing?
Because digital work compounds. Small decisions — in structure, content, or SEO — can have a meaningful impact when they’re aligned and working together.
I approach digital marketing as part of a larger system, not a collection of isolated tactics. Websites, content, and analytics only work when they support clear goals and reinforce one another. My role is to bring those pieces into alignment so incremental improvements add up to something effective and sustainable.
Where are you located?
I am based in Vancouver, BC, but have spent over a decade working both in person and remotely for clients all over Canada and globally.
Depending on where you are located, we can go over your business goals and create a digital strategy together in person, remotely, or as a hybrid-model that works for your schedule.
How do I begin?
Most clients begin with a website audit to gain clarity before deciding what to do next.
If you don’t have a website, not to worry. Drop me a message via my contact form to share your goals, and we can schedule a meeting or phone call to bring clarity to your vision.
Myers-Briggs - INTP
Curious, analytical, and driven by logic, I naturally see systems, patterns, and connections others often miss.
I’m motivated by understanding why things work, not just how, which shapes the way I approach digital strategy—thoughtfully, independently, and with intention.
I value clarity over noise, structure over guesswork, and well-reasoned decisions over trends, so the work we do together is grounded, strategic, and built to actually make sense.
